We sat down with the mysterious minds behind OOH to ask the questions you’ve probably been too afraid, too curious, or simply too amused to ask.
Q: So, who exactly are the Cult Leaders?
A: That depends on who you ask. Some say we’re visionaries. Others say we just spend too much time thinking about weird things. We prefer to let the work speak for itself.
Q: Why a cult?
A: Why not? The world already has enough clubs, committees, corporations, and organizations with unnecessarily complicated names. We wanted something with a little more personality. OOH is about curiosity, kindness, creativity, and finding a little relief from the absurdity of everyday life.
Q: What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
A: Nothing sinister. We’re here to make interesting things, share interesting ideas, encourage people to look at the world a little differently, and maybe put a smile on someone’s face. If we can make everyday life a little lighter, we consider that a successful ritual.
Q: Is there a secret doctrine?
A: Of course there is. We just haven’t finished writing it yet.
Q: What should people expect when they join?
A: Curiosity. Good humor. Strange discoveries. Thoughtful conversations. Maybe a few treasures. Definitely some things you weren't expecting. There are no robes required, although we refuse to discourage them.
Q: And what happens behind the curtain?
A: That's classified.
Q: Seriously?
A: Not really. But it sounds much more mysterious that way.
Q: Any final words for the curious?
A: Keep asking questions. Be kind without being a pushover. Don't take everything so seriously. Look beyond the obvious. And if you find a door that says DO NOT OPEN, well...
